BEEF ADMINISTRATIVE RECALL!
Feb 26, 2008 - The California Integrated Waste Management Board has
Safe Disposal Guidelines written for the Beef products recalled from
Hallmark/Westland Meat Packing Company on their website. Here is the link of
the information:

If you have large quantities of beef to dispose, you are required to make
special arrangements with disposal sites. The California Integrated Waste
Management Board has a facility database for you to locate landfills in your
area. Here is the link of the database:

You may also want to contact a rendering company to handle your beef.
Collection service areas, costs, and types of materials accepted vary.

Feb. 17, 2008 –Hallmark/Westland Meat Packing Co., a Chino, Calif.,
establishment, is voluntarily recalling approximately 143,383,823 pounds of
raw and frozen beef products that USDA has determined to be unfit for human
food because the cattle did not receive complete and proper inspection.
This recall is designated as Class II due to the remote probability that the
beef being recalled would cause adverse health effects if consumed.
The products subject to this recall were sent to wholesale distributors
nationwide in bulk packages and are not available for direct purchase by
consumers. All products subject to recall bear the establishment number
"EST. 336" inside the USDA mark of inspection. The products were produced on
various dates from Feb. 1, 2006 to Feb. 2, 2008. Companies are urged to
check their inventories and hold the products until the recalling firm makes
arrangements for final disposition of the products. To view a list of

Feb 8, 2008 USDA has placed an Administrative Hold on beef processed at Hallmark Meat Packing and distributed
by Westland Meat Company of Chino, California pending an investigation of those facilities and allegations made by the
Humane Society of the United States.
The California School Nutrition Association urges you to contact your beef suppliers/processors for specific information
on affected meat. Anyone who received beef from Hallmark/Westland has been notified by USDA and the information has also
been posted on the ECOS Rapid Alert System.
