MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the California School Nutrition Association, as a powerful voice for all involved in school nutrition programs, is to provide a forum for personal and professional development by offering innovative educational programs, supporting legislative efforts, and promoting community awareness for the purpose of improving the well-being of California’s children.

THREE-YEAR GOALS

(Not in priority order)

Increase membership and participation

Improve internal and external communication

Have a positive impact on legislation

Enhance the professional image of CSNA

Provide professional and leadership development

The California School Nutrition Association is a complex multi-faceted organization with many concerns to address. Nutrition, professional development, the state of California, diversity, children and lifelong learning are all aspects of the association that need to be communicated through this trademark.

C is for apple, the traditional symbol for education as well as nutrition. S is the sun because California is the state we represent. N is a graphic representation of a children’s playing block. This represents the building blocks of life which begin in childhood.  A is a triangle which alludes to the food pyramid.

Each letter has its own individuality both in its meaning and in its visual presence. Together these individualities symbolize diversity.

The last element of the trademark is the spoon which underlines and creates a base for the playful, active letter forms to rest. The spoon represents service.

Most of all this trademark is fun and active. It encourages the audience to interact, to figure out (on a basic level) what each letter/image is.
