Sharon Ray - Manager, Summer Food and Data Management Unit,
California Department of Public Health, Nutrition Education and Obesity Prevention Branch

Sharon Ray, Manager of the Summer Food and Data Management Unit, has worked for the California Department of Education for 21 years, 18 within the Nutrition Services Division. She has specialized in data reporting for more than ten years, and has also overseen the Summer Food Service Program for the past three years.

Laurie Pennings - Manager, Child and Adult Care Food Program Unit
California Department of Public Health, Nutrition Education and Obesity Prevention Branch

Laurie Pennings joined the Nutrition Services Division at the California Department of Education four years ago as the Manager of the Child and Adult Care Food Program Unit. Prior to joining CDE, she was the California Obesity Prevention Program Coordinator for one year and the Manager of the Breastfeeding Support Unit at the WIC Branch for thirteen years. Her unit is lead for CACFP policy development, the CACFP application process, providing technical assistance to sponsors, and processing the annual program agreement updates. She has eight program analysts that oversee a caseload of 1300 CACFP agencies with over 6,000 centers and 17,000 day care home providers.

Pamela Lambert - Director Child Nutrition Services
Oceanside USD

Registered Pediatric Dietitian, is currently the Director of Nutrition Services for the Oceanside Unified School District. In 2013, Pamela won the California Food for California Kids Innovation Award from the Center for Ecoliteracy. Pamela is best known for partnering with farmers to provide locally sourced school meals, and for creating new recipes from scratch for students and for her staff.

Jose Alvarado - Food Services Director
Fresno Unified SD

Jose Alvarado is the Food Services Director for Fresno Unified School District. He has been in K-12 for over 27 years and 5 years as Food Services Director. He attended and graduated from California State University of Fresno with a degree in Information Systems and a MBA (Master in Business Administration). Each day his team prepares over 88,000 meals, including 25,000 -Breakfast, 55,000 Lunches, and 8,000 afterschool snacks at 104 serving sites. In addition, each day over 800 special diet meals are prepared to meet the special dietary needs of students. Over 82% of the students in Fresno Unified School District are eligible for free meals and operate 83 Provision II sites where all students eat free.
